1st Half Summer Term:

This half term we will be diving into an exciting pirate theme!

Our Design and Technology learning will link to our topic on pirates and the children will be designing and making their own pirate puppets.

In writing the children will be exploring the book “The Pirates Next Door” and will be writing about the characters and events in the story.

In Maths, we will be learning about fractions.

In Science, the children will be finding out about how plants grow and will be using our garden environment to plant seeds. As part of our physical education, we will be developing our athletic skills and we will have inter-class competitions as well as scoring points for our sports houses.

 

2nd Half Summer Term:

This half term we will be diving into an exciting Geography project! The children will be learning about the 7 continents of the World and the 5 oceans. The children will focus on the country Brazil and use aerial photographs to recognise landmarks and basic human and physical features. The children will also use world maps, atlases and globes to identify the United Kingdom and its countries, as well as continents and oceans.

In Maths, the children will learn about measurements and will use standard units to measure, temperature, weight and capacity.  The children will also focus on telling the time on an analogue clock. 

In Art and Design, we will be exploring the artist Rosseau and the children will create their own rainforest art work using collage and printing techniques.

In Science, the children will be finding out about everyday materials and explaining how they are suited to particular uses.
