1st Half Summer Term

Our class theme this half term will be Fantastic Mr Fox. In Literacy, we will be focussing on narrative writing and exploring the classic children’s book Fantastic Mr Fox to write our own retell. Our Author focus for this term is Roald Dahl who is the author of Fantastic Mr Fox – we will explore other stories written by him too!

In Science we will be learning about Light and how shadows are formed and changed.

The children will be taught rounders on a Tuesday afternoon and inclusive team games on a Monday afternoon. Please make sure that your child has the correct sports kit (jogging bottoms, plain white t-shirt and a change of footwear for outdoor PE) so they do not miss out on these fantastic opportunities.

2nd Half Summer Term

Our class theme this half term will be how the Romans changed Britain.

In this half term we will be undertaking a history and geography project all about the impact of the Romans in Britain.

In Literacy, we will be focussing on non-narrative writing on the topics of Roman gladiators, Boudicca and comparisons between the locations of Telford and Rome. In Maths, we will be learning about time and shape. We will also explore Roman numerals. Science learning will be all about plants and pollination where we will investigate and describe the functions of different parts of plant. We will also carry out an observation over time to investigate what plants need for life and growth.

Our Author focus this half term is the well-known American author Jeff Brown. He is the mastermind behind the Flat Stanley story series.

The children will be taught athletics on a Monday afternoon and rounders on a Tuesday afternoon. Both of our PE lessons will take place outdoors, weather permitting. Please make sure that your child has the correct sports kit that is kept in school all week (plain black shorts/jogging bottoms, white t-shirt and a change of footwear) so they do not miss out on these fantastic opportunities.
